BJ was named a semi-finalist for the James Beard “Best Chef Great Lakes” award in 2023 and 2024. He is the current owner of Chapman's Eat Market (named “Best restaurant in Columbus in ’21, ‘22, ’23), Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge, and Hiraeth restaurant. BJ was the former head chef of Rose's Luxury and Little Pearl (both awarded one Michelin Star) and Pineapple & Pearl (awarded two Michelin stars) in Washington, DC.
